Hi Eric, thanks for your interest in Cerbos. Our current model is to provide an API for access decisions based on contextual data provided by the application. This is purely to ensure that the surface area is small and Cerbos doesn't have access to your internal systems. So we currently don't do JWT validation. We expect the application to have already identified the user as valid and provide us with the information it thinks we need to evaluate the access policies. Your use case is quite interesting and we can definitely have a think about how Cerbos could help you there. Your feedback would be very welcome.

I've looked at your API documentation here: https://docs.cerbos.dev/cerbos/0.6.0/api/index.html I couldn't see any way to get the CEL expressions for a given action, is there any endpoint for this? There is a check endpoint but I think accessing the CEL expression may allow me to automatically fetch necessary data for the permission check request.

Other related question - in the server config, there's the ability to add tls cert & key, do you have a working example of this (TLS enabled)? Because I'm having trouble getting it to behave in minikube

Hi, Hi Emre, I am Keerthi and I am an Engineering Manager of a platform team at UiPath. I am excited to evaluate cerbos and I have a few questions. I am trying to get some of the samples to run and I am facing some snags. I searched online and at https://github.com/cerbos/cerbos for help, could not find it.  Can I get some help here ? Also, where do we go look for help for such issues in cerbos. I am sure I might be missing something. Quick Start: https://docs.cerbos.dev/cerbos/latest/quickstart.html Docker run command: docker run --rm --name cerbos -d -v C/dump/cerbos-quickstart/policies:/policies -p 3592:3592 ghcr.io/cerbos/cerbos:0.10.0 1. /api/check is failing with "failed to extract auxData" for the request from the "Fill Example" a. {"log.level":"error","@timestamp":"2021-12-04T09:35:15.955Z","log.logger":"cerbos.grpc","message":"Failed to extract auxData","grpc.start_time":"2021-12-04T09:35:15Z","system":"grpc","span.kind":"server","grpc.service":"cerbos.svc.v1.CerbosService","grpc.method":"CheckResourceSet","http":{"x_forwarded_for":["172.17.0.1"],"x_forwarded_host":["localhost:3592"]},"cerbos":{"call_id":"01FP2CRDZKT37Z5YTMP0JGA5Z3"},"peer.address":"127.0.0.1:58686","error":"keyset not found: string"} 2. I was able to work around by removing the entire auxData part from the request, but despite the policy files present in directory, I do not see them getting picked up a. the response is always EFFECT_DENY, with or without the yaml files in the directory. I am trying out the playground now but would prefer running it locally on my windows machine for further evaluation.

Glad to be here. I develop internal apps at a start-up and was working with fusionauth to setup our own user database and expose these apps to our customers. So far I have sprinkled weird role checks all across code and it was getting out of hand. Somewhat as a coincidence I found a blog post on fusionauth talking about Cerbos.

I predominantly work with Python. I have only made it through toy examples so far but was wondering what the roadmap for Python API was. I am running tight till Feb end but looking forward to learn more about cerbos and help on this if needed. Might be a premature question, but as an initial draft, can't the library from demo-python already be packaged and published on pypi? More features, tests and doc can be added progressively I assume..

Our python API is currently under development. Target release is by the end of February. In the mean time you can absolutely use the library from the demo. However, we are working on making the python library compatible with Django and async calls. Keep an eye out on the #announcements channel.
